Our client, a nationally recognised appprreal business backed by one of Australia's largest companies, is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to take ownership of their transport supplier portfolio and drive both operational excellence and strategic improvement.
 
This is a standalone role where you'll be the internal expert managing relationships with multiple transport providers across the country. You'll have the autonomy to shape supplier strategy, negotiate outcomes, and optimise the transport network while staying hands-on with day to day execution.

The Opportunity
 
This is a hands-on yet strategic role where you'll be the sole transport specialist managing a portfolio of third party transport providers. You'll work with distribution partners to ensure service, cost, and performance align with business objectives.
 
You won't have a team to manage, so this role suits someone who enjoys working independently, building strong supplier relationships, and getting involved across both strategic planning and operational problem solving.
 
What You'll Do
  • Manage relationships with multiple transport providers across the national network
  • Negotiate contracts, rates, and service level agreements with transport suppliers
  • Monitor supplier performance against KPIs including cost, service, and on time delivery
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate, optimise, or change transport providers
  • Resolve day to day operational issues and escalations with carriers
  • Develop and implement transport strategies to support business growth
  • Analyse transport data and trends to inform decision making
  • Work cross functionally with warehousing, customer service, and commercial teams
What You'll Bring
 
  • Ideally proven experience as an internal Transport Manager managing a portfolio of third-party suppliers (not running your own fleet)
  • Strong background in supplier relationship management and contract negotiation
  • Experience managing multiple transport modes 
  • Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic thinking
  • Track record of delivering cost savings and service improvements through supplier management
  • National transport network experience across Australia
